Still (?) Dating

I am still on 3 online dating sites – one is  pay and has been a dismal failure.  They keep matching me with folks who don’t have accounts, so I can’t chat with them.  It’s the biggest waste of time!

I’ve gone out with this guy a few times.  We met for our initial meet-each-other date.  It was lunch at a local steak houses.  We went fishing one afternoon.  He came over here & hung out.  I showed him around.  I think he thinks I’m nuts that I think my house is haunted.  He took me out to dinner that night & we watched a movie.  Tonight he is cooking dinner for me.

He is TOTALLY unlike any guy I’ve dated before.  I hugged him “hello” when we met, and did not touch him again until he hugged me “bye” when he left after the movie.  He’s not love-bombed me.  He’s not monopolized my time.  We’ve actually gone a couple days and not talked at all.  The days we have talked it was usually just once. He’s not interrogated me about past relationships.  He is quiet, reserved, respectful, and seems very nice.  He even gave me a kayak!!!

We’ve not talked about sex, past relationships (much – I’ve asked a few questions), or our baggage.  Although, he has less, as he has no children and never been married.  He is a good ‘ol country boy.  He loves to hunt and fish.  His tackle room looks like my art studio.  i cannot begrudge anyone their hobby! Not at our age. He is an introvert who is willing to come to this extrovert’s cookout next weekend.  He seems appropriately nervous, but getting more comfortable.  He is willing to talk and push his boundaries.  I respect that.  He is a peaceful personality type.  I like that I don’t have to talk and it’s OK.  Some folks get all weirded out when I’m quiet (can’t imagine why.  They think I’m plotting against them.)

I’m not all butterieflied or twitterpated or caterwauling.  He’s just a guy and we are getting to know each other.  What a concept!

Empathetic Relationships

I am almost at the verge of tears right now.  My quest, when I woke this morning, should I choose to accept it, is to figure out how to have a relationship as an empath.  I read this article and am thinking, “Holy Shit – this is me!”.  I might not be an “over the top” empath.  I might not have overexcitabilities along the empathetic path according to Dabrowski.  But, like everything else in my life, I am above average.  A little more sensitive, a spotlight junkie that needs my alone time, one who avoids current events – maybe I’m not in the right career path (What was I thinking?).

I don’t know how to properly repost without infringing on copyright laws.  So, I’m just going to post this link.  Maybe I was on to something when, as a kid, I thought I wanted to live next door to my mate and not with him.  I hope you follow it – if you still want inside this crazy tilt-a-whirl of my brain and life.
